The West African nation of Senegal is one of the most stable democracies in Africa. Senegal was the first country of intervention for The Hunger Project in Africa; we have been working there since 1991. The Hunger Project-Senegal is now empowering 376,974 partners in 17 epicenters communities that include 600 villages.
Among the major accomplishments of the Mpal Epicenter, a support program for children's nutrition, PARUFAM, was re-launched under newly elected leadership.
More than 300 women coming from 12 villages of the Sanar Epicenter took an active part in an International Women's Day celebration on Mark 15. The theme was "Financing advocacy of gender equality."
From December 6th – 17th, Dr. Fitigu Tadesse, Vice President for Africa, and Amrote Abdella, Senior Program Officer for AWFFI travel to Senegal to monitor the progress of programs being implemented by The Hunger Project-Senegal.
