Volunteer

There are two types of volunteer opportunities with The Hunger Project:

Volunteer in New York

For those who live in or near New York City, there are occasional opportunities to volunteer at The Hunger Project Global Office in New York, particularly at the time of our annual fall event in September and October. To be contacted about these volunteer opportunities, email Jenna Recuber.

Become an Activist

If you would like to be an active participant in The Hunger Project, we encourage you to begin by attending an event that will introduce you to our work. Find an event near you.

Virtually all volunteer activist opportunities focus around fundraising activities within the United States. This includes being a part of a team inviting friends and colleagues to learn about The Hunger Project, hosting an informational event at your office, home or place of worship, or creating a fundraising event to generate funds for The Hunger Project. Learn more about hosting an event.

We encourage everyone who wants to be an activist with The Hunger Project to begin by becoming a financial investor. We consider those who give money to The Hunger Project to be committed investors, as they are investing in a better future for all of humanity. Investors are the heart and soul of The Hunger Project and represent the profound respect, solidarity and authentic partnership with people living in conditions of hunger and poverty that is central to our work and therefore, to our effectiveness. Learn more about investing in The Hunger Project.

Investor-activists partner with a Hunger Project staff member and other activists to expand the reach of The Hunger Project in their own community. Activists may serve on the invitation committee for community events, or host their own events. They may serve as a "door opener" to people they know who, after meeting with a fundraiser, might choose to also invest financially in The Hunger Project. Activists may be the catalyst to bring The Hunger Project into entirely new networks of people.

Visit the activist resources section of our website to find materials and tools designed to facilitate outreach by our activists.
